in the river
my friend found one on his way walking over to the lfs i work at and so he caught it and ran to a quiznos to get a cup to put it in he brought it to the store and i switched it to an empty plastic terrium that we had...after examining her i gound that she was pragnant...it looks like three eggs as far as i can tell...she is in a 10gal with a pvc tunnel so that she hopefully lays her eggsshe has some bark as substrate and a fern and orchid in there for some decor i gave her some crickets...but this was a spontaneous thing that happened and i know they like crickets and have seen some even eating mangos and papayas that fall from trees. is there anything else she might need...i know she should have the cage misted down to add humidity and so she can drink from the leaves...will she drink from a water dish if i leave one... any more suggestions let me know. thanks...

oh and ill post pics later.

I used to have a breeding pair in a 20 gallon high. They are pretty easy to care for. Keep their cages at around 82-86 degrees during the day and about 76 degrees at night. Keep the tank on the humid side and mist them twice a day. They really won't drink from a bowl so you'll need to mist it. They are aborel so keep lots of branches and tropical plants. Large leaves give them something to sit on. I fed them dusted crickets and grasshoppers and gave them fruit puree as a treat. The males are very territorial so keep them seperate. A reptile full spectrum light is highly recommened if you plan on keeping them inside.
Incubate the eggs at 82 degrees which should produces either sex. A higher temperature will produces mostly males. They hatch between 36-50 days. Best of luck!

those gecjis are nice.i wonder how much one of those would cost?

thanks for the info...i plan on picking up a fern and an orchid to today for her...i have a friend who vreeds and sells these to the mainland all the time... he said he sells the gold dust for $10each unless the person is buying "wholesale" (10 or more geckos)...although the orange doted one (madagascar day gecko) he sells for $60 each again unless someone buys "wholesale quantity"...he keeps telling me mines not worth keeping cause its a cheapy but who cares shes pretty ill show you guys a pic...

I hate it when people say some herps are not worth keeping because they are "cheapy." The only herps that should not be kept are the deformed ones.

She looks nice and healthy. I used to sell them to a LPS for $20 bucks each and they would double that and sell them. I just want you to know that you really can't hold these geckos. They're extremely quick and if you go to grab one the tails come off without much effort, plus their skin tears easily.
Do they live wild were you are, cause that would be awesome.

ya i know not to handle them...they arent established in my are however they are established on the island i live on...im too close to the beach i think for them to thrive in my yard...but ill try as i breed and hatch more...thats my real goal with keeping her. BTW heres some pics with an orchid and a fern...
