Gold Nugget Pleco Question?

I have a gold nugget pleco (3") in a with 2 marble angels (3"-4") and 2 blood parrot cichlids (3"). They are in a 20 gal H wh I am while I am waiting on my 75 gal to cycle. OK now the question:

Why does he seem to be so shy? He is always hiding in the asian head or on the side of the tank behind the filter. What is his deal?

He's a pleco. They're basically always like that to begin with. Some become braver, especially when food is involved, some don't. He's likely more active after dark as well

yea. those guys are always shy. get some drift wood and he may post up on that.

Thanks! I thought he was just mad at me or something, lol. He looks great that is why i bought him so i guess i will just have to enjoy the moments when he decides to come out.

How long have you had him? I've never had a gold nugget, but my two current gibby plecos were shy for a couple months, but they always come out as soon as food is offered now

Usually, the fancier the pleco the more they hid

I have had him about three weeks. I like plecos and if they would get along I would have a tank full of them. He is starting to come out a little more. Hopefully he will get over his insecurities and start staying out longer. Thanks again for everyone's help. I have only been a member for a month and I already love this site!
