well it would go fine in a 75 gal, as long as its not stupid dimensions, but i dont think it will go for a red devil. i have heard they arent so good with tankmates? also plecos and some species of cichlid dont go together well due to the pleco sucking the slime coat off them when they sleep. however, if you dont think that their compatibility is going to be a problem, then yes, if it is, then no lol
you would probabally be ok gold nugget plecos will hide a lot and love caves and shelter as lon as you give it a cave the rd cant get in to and some cover you should be fine.

How is the nugget supposed to eat? Even if the nugget is past 6 inches, i think chances are high that it will be harrassed if not just beat up by the red devil. Of course it will live for the time being if there is something for it to hide in but that doesnt mean that it will be "fine". Granted, occasionally you run into cichlids that have demeanors that completely negate thier reputation, like a friendly JD or vegetarian oscar but those are rare.
I think it will hide in a cave until it starves to death, not to mention that you might find it a little difficult to feed it since it likes meaty foods and the red devil can be a gorge eater.
I keep a gold nugget with a jag and a gt and it does fine every now and then he gets a nudge from the jag but never anything serious. If you have lots of hiding places and good aquascaping the little guy should be ok as long as its not a small tank. Gold nuggets will come out mostly at night anyway and are very shy. I wouls probabally recommend a larger pleco too but a gold nugget is not out of the question. I owned a rd devil about 8 years ago and the only tank mate he had was a Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus sp.) and he never really paid any attention too him. I usually dont recomment tank mates for rd's but plecos usually do ok IME.
GNs can be big...
i dont think pellets are enough and algae wafers arent too useful for GNs. you are better off feeding them worms, beefheart, prawns and other meaty foods like that aswell as some bogwood to gnaw on and the occasional veggie
