So, since I lost my male breeder discus, I gave up on them completely. I have my 55g in my living room so I was going to move my big guy to his own tank so he can stare at me all the time lol. (he is my buddy) and so my festae can grow into their 125 by themselves.

My question. Will my saum be fine with corys and tetras? Probably not tetras, probably will get eaten but I think he might be fine with corys, also I bet he would look good with them. P.s. He is peaking 7" now.

U wanting to put the Saum in a 55 gallon?? There is a good chance that he will out grow the tank. Saums can get 11+ which makes it a tight space for them in a 55. Being in a 55 gallon i do not think the mix will work over time. I would consider at least a 75 gallon for the saum. He would be much more happier in the long run ;)

I agree if he is 7" why put him in a tight space. I would get him a 75 if you want him solo.

I figured I would ask. But how often do saums really hit 11" in the aquaria.

here is the thing saums can and will grow to 10-12" the thing is people don't keep them long enough to get that big.... your male is getting to the size where he will slow down he will start putting on weight and girth.... most 10" males are well over 3 years I have a female that I have hed for three years she is about 8".... The funnest part about saums is watching them grow into complete beasts.... I have a 9" male who is still slowly growing he is about 2.5 years old.... I think most people get rid of their gt's before they grow.... I also forgot to say they are some the slowest growers....

Bingo.....

And most people don't keep them in large enough tanks either. 55 is pretty tight IMO

Well. I guess I could move some fish around and put him in my 75. From the pics can you sex him? I believe to be male. Every time I get him out of the water I forget to vent lol. Isn't venting u shape male v shape female?

Nice tyvm.
