They can get to be a 12+ inch fish, saying that i'v never seen one bigger than the one I have at the moment, he's 7 - 8'ish inches (at a guess i'm no good with size's)
They are a slow grower, i'v not had mine 4 long but it feels like he's shrinking.
Same with most Cic there are "The good, The bad & The ugly" just a case of getting and seeing what he is like, well unless you get one from some-one you no that will tell you what he is really like.
I have 2 right now (will only be one in half of an hour)
i think i got "The bad"
this fish has a nast side, well he's not that bad as long as the other fish stay out of his 95%of the tank
hear he is be 4 getting his ass poundid by a 12 - 14inch walking cat (the GT was the 1 whom started the fights)
and hear he is after a fight with the Clarius
he would not think twice to go head to head with thig guy, look at the size diffrence
The second GT i have i think is "The good & The ugly"
he will let an Oscar half his size chase him all around the tank with out chalanging him, thats the reasion he is going in a min, i have had to split him up from the other fish as they all chase and pick on him
(hes the 1st fish)
what tank mates are you going/plan to put with him?

55g will do for life. Most often the top out at 10", and thats even after years with pristine water.
Mine passed on recently, had him for 6 years.
