Just figured I do a little show and tell. Fortunately I was in my room when they started liplocking! I was so happy!!!

The first three are (obviously) the liplocking. Followed by the soon-to-be daddy and then the soon-to-be momma!

Hopefully they'll have enough fry successfully and breed enough times to pay off my 180g. :naughty:

I think what you saw was a dominance display between two males. My male super red and my male gold lip-lock all the time, especially if they're both flirting with the same female. Are there any other sevs in the tank? If not, I don't think you'll see babies out of these two any time soon. :(

I've got 4 sevs in the tank. Two of them are definitely males and have long tapered fins. Two of the others are a little smaller in size and have shorter rounded dorsal fins.

Even though the pics I have up on this thread aren't the clearest, it is the largest male and the largest (hoping) female with a shorter and rounded dorsal fin. My bigger male would go up in front of the female in question and bump and do what he could to get the attention from this other one.

I would love to be able to breed any of my severums. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. If you have any ideas or suggestions for me, please share!

The spots on the face are a much better way of sexing severums. I have females with long pointy fins. In the pics that you posted, both fish have the spots on the face and are males. Females will not have the spots on the face.

It's tough to sex severums by the fins. I had a fish that I was convinced was a male because of its finnage and size, then it laid eggs.
