Gold Severums Lip Locking

I keep a number of different species and variants of Heros - 'efasciatus', 'notatus', and 'severus', 'sp. Rotkiel' and gold sport of 'efasciatus'. I had the 'golds' spread out over a couple of different tanks, and decided to put them together in hopes that a pair will form. Within 10 minutes, two of them started to spar. They usually do this for dominance, territoriality, or courtship. Here are a few pictures of the lip locking.

Good pics. Looks like a male and female. Possible mating already, perhaps. I have heard of many SA cichlids spawning within just a few hours of being in their new homes.

IMO it's two males fighting to see who's dominant. Though sometimes the female golds will have light barring on the face.
