I’ve had this cat for 3 weeks or so. This is the first time it’s come out of hiding in that time. It’s about 6-7 “ I believe they get around 20” but grow much more slowly than other shovelnose. For instance my Lima went from 4-5”-12” in 6 months. I don’t know that I’ll see the same growth rate on this.
Time will tell. Can’t say there’s much info on these guys.

Yeah I’m not seeing too much on the way of first hand knowledge on them.

That larger bottom jaw suggests a "lurker", waiting to strike up from below on unweary passing fish above.
It does.
Kinda reminds me of a Muskie the way it’s jaw is shaped.
Tough looking.

I wonder if it will behave like sorubim- hide behind a flat surface and dart out as small come by- likely will only find out if it’s eats fry as I haven’t used live feeders in like 15 yrs.

mince my centrodoras gets settled I’d add pics of those too.
I’m a catfish nerd myself.
I have 4 species of synodontis- favorite ending decorus- would love a brichardi
L095 plecos
Vulture cat
Bolt cat
Horse head pim
Apurensis
Lima
I’d love a wyckii, Fisheri, hammerhead and an Orinoco shovelnose
