I have a gold wolf thats a little bit shy of five inches that I had to remove from my 90g. He was with parrot fish of similar size to twice his size and was being too aggressive. He just removed the tail of my convict parrot and during feeding (pellets and krill) he is very rough on the others. I was going to leave him in the tank, but he is just waiting to finish off the parrot he mangled and I am afraid he will move onto the others eventually. The only tank I had available was a 20 long, so that is where he is going to reside for now. My question is till about what size do you think he could stay comfortably in that tank? I normally wouldn't pose this question with a wolf, but since he is a gold he is very active. I have a 50g, which will hopefully be to grow him out for awhile, but it will be some time before I can move the fish that are currently in the tank. As a result, he will have to spend some time in the 20. Thanks for the help.

I wouldnt give em long till that 20g is to small. Not long at all, Wolves are fast growers at 1-1.5in a month. So I say maybe a month or two at the most. I believe in giving fish more than adequate room, so they are COMFORTABLE. I understand your situation, but yeah he'll need that 55 SOON.

gold wolves dont grow that fast.
0.5 inches a mth more like it.
he'd prabbly grow out that tank in a fw mths.

At almost 5 inches he probably won't be comfortable in that 20 at all. These fish are very active and mine are constantly swimming about the tank. I'd say move him to a larger tank as soon as you can. Also make sure the 20g has a very sturdy top. If he doesn't like where he is he may try to jump for it and they are extremely powerful jumpers.

my gold wolf's been in his 50g for alittle while now. I am looking at craiglist to pick up a final tank for the fish. What do you guys think the min size should be? He will be the only fish in the tank. From what I gather on this site he will get to be about 18 inches, so I am guessing I will need a tank at least two feet wide? Also I am kind of going through a crayfish craze right now. Is it possible to house crayfish with the wolf or will they be dinner? I am guessing dinner, but want to know what you all think.
