I have recieved 3pcs. of Goldcrown Butterflyfish from the remote Pacific island of Tarawa Atoll. This fish is undoubtedly the KING of hybrid butterflyfishes. Only in Tarawa, and no where else in the world, does this fish occur. It is a deepwater hybrid of C. Tinkeri (Tinker's butterfly) and C. Burgess (Burgess butterfly). The white and black pattern on the body suggests Tinkeri, while the saddles over the nape of the head suggest Burgessi. Yet, the saddles are not black like a burgess--they are golden yellow, thusly the name Goldcrown. In Japan this fish is highly prized and can be occassionally found in high end LFS' for around $3500 a piece! I have recieved 3, but only 1 is now available as I have traded one of them to a Japanese collector for 2pcs. wrought iron butterfly (3"), and sold another one here in the U.S. All 3 are currently eating frozen food that I bought: Emerald Entree Omnivore Diet. This contains mysis, seaweed, brine, etc. The size of the fish is 3"-3.5". I guarantee an alive arrival and I also guarantee the fish to stay alive for up to 7 days after arrival.
