This guy just arrived today.... he's a bit stressed out...maybe that's
why his colors are light....he is in a small temp. holding tank and going into
a 600 gal empty cycled tank in a week or so......
I have seen pic's of juvi's Marmorta's on this site(not many) and the spots
look right but not the golden color...I think from Rio Trem.....
Let me know what you think,,,,Thanks

the last pic is a lent...

I'm thinking tapajos marm. Where'd you get it?

Is that a fresh import or did someone else have it for a while? With a little TLC that fish will be a beast! Very nice find!!

Hello there........Thanks to all.........If one of you have Oliver Lucas fish list from this month or last, the Mara..is on there and it says where the fish is from...I deleted the list by accident.......Oliver only had one of these fish...he says alot of his Crenicichla's come in one at a time, so I have an order in
for three more if and when more ever come in......(Need to find this fish a mate, he is a little over 6 inches now).....
So my 750gal and 600gal are cycled.....I have my order in with Jeff Rapps for other types of cichlids...I never thought I would keep Crenicichla but this site opened up my eyes............
The only fish I have so far are:

1) 4 Lents @ 4 to 5 inches
2) 1 Maramorata @ 6 inches
3) 4 C. Lugubris Red @ 10 inches(I think these sre Atabapo 1 since they
come from that system and talk about gorgeous, I will do a post entirely
on them in a few days)
I only have room for one more Crenicichla species......any suggestions???
I was thinking Multispioia...
I thought I'd keep the reds and the lents in the 750 gal since they come from the same Rio Atabapo and the Mar and the Multi's in the 600gal
hoping they are a little bit less aggressive.....

The big problem I'm having is what to feed them...I wanted to power feed the Lents so when they go into the 750 gal they will be close to the same size as the red's but Oliver says NEVER power feed Crenicichla....so I don't know...
The lents only seem to eat feeders and this stinks up the tank and many water changes......I tryed Myeis, dried krill and uncooked shrimp....
not sure what to do......never had this problem with cichlids....

Does anyone think I could put the lents and the reds in the big tank now
(being different sizes or will the reds eat the lents??????

Thanks for now.....later

It's Tapajos. You'd probably have issues mixing multis and marm. From what Oliver have told me the multis are relatively passive and get picked on by larger pikes.

Good luck with him!

Spectacular! Definitely bulk that guy up and see if you can get those colors to come out better! Please keep us updated with this guy!

Peanut...I will def. keep you and others up to date but what would really help me is more info. about your red's and close up shots of them....
I will be posting mine soon...maybe you could put yours on my post and we can compare them to see if they are the same species.......
what do you think......what do yours eat?????

I have seen your family phots of them but really need close up shots...
By the way they are Gorgeous!!!!!!

You could also try earthworms for your lent. My will only eat raw shrimp and earthworms. It would eat feeders if I put them in, but I try to avoid that. You may have to starve it for a few days to get it to eat, but it should. Try worms, when they start to wriggle in the water it drives the lent nuts.

My cincta is the mellowest pike I have right now. The aggression of the lent and the sp. lugubris blow it away.
