Golden Dorado vs ATF

Golden dorado will be franky and ATF will be Vittatus or TAFT.

Wanted to know which you guys prefer and why.

They are both large predators and have that appeal but are very different. Dorados grow very fast, constantly patrol the tank, tend to hassle if not destroy tank mates and are unfussy eaters.

Atf grow a little slower, do a lot more hovering but still use the whole tank, much more skittish than dorado, have more visible teeth, do better with tank mates attacking some and leaving others alone, prefer meaty foods.

I love them both and have had several of each.

Yea man totally agree, but if you have to choose one type of fish only, which will you go for?

I currently own a vatf. I'm getting back into rays and want to try the combo. I would never trust the dorados I've had in the past with rays. Vatf may not work either but I'm going to give it a shot. Just depends on your set up which one would be better.

My experience has been very similar to KNHs as far as growth.

However I have had more troubles with the ATF and tank mates then the Dorado......

My setup will be 3-4 ATF or Doradoes with a bunch of dither fish. Hypothetically say if tank mates is a non issue, which will you go for?

I think if you go Dorado you'll eventually end up with "A" Dorado. Once a Dorado decides against other Dorado it's over.

ATF I think you have a better chance at keeping a group.
