Golden Gourami attacking young discus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How many discus do you have? How big are they? And you don't need to have five. Five is a good number to have so one discus doesn't get bullied all the time. It helps spread out aggression

To the op, you can find anyone to tell you something is OK. Go read the beginner section at simplydiscus if you want brutal honesty. The truth is your setup is not ideal for discus unless you buy a mated pair.

Fish keeping is not set in stone. There's a lot of haters. You haven't stated your temp, ph, kh, filtration, and maintenance.... And you've been told your setup is all wrong. I've seen people keep discus with aros and another keep discus and geos. I've personally kept two discus (not paired) for 6 yrs.

 Parameters not withstanding, tossing a single young discus into an established tank with a gourami is not the best course of action. The fact that something can be done or has been done doesn't hold that it SHOULD be done. Take time & research a bit what's BEST for what you're trying to keep. It will definitely increase your chances of being successful. "T"

Tank size and number of discus aside, that's exactly what I'd expect putting a more timid, less aggressive discus in with a more aggressive species like gold gourami, all the more so one that's already established in the tank. They're not two species I would keep together.
