pretty sure there is one at my lfs. it is yellow where it would normally be bluish black, and really light coloured. it is about 2-3 inches long. i don't know the price, but is being kept in a tank with a 4" texas that is going for 12 bucks. my question is, could it live in a 35 gallon tank with just a blood parrot if i do 2 water changes a week? it is my family's tank (we call it my sister's), but i look after it (cleaning, feeding, etc). its a nice fish, but i don't want to ditch my blood parrot, because it was my first fish ever (except for a goldfish and a betta).

thanks in advance guys/girls

35 will be too small once it's near adult size. I'd say they would be ok together in a 55, but wouldn't go any smaller than that

Good lluck

I agree and also i think golden jack dempseys are all gold and no stripes that are very visable make sure before you buy it it is a golden one because soemtiems the tank colrs and rocks make the jack dempseys fade and their skin becaomes a tan color instead of deep pruple also if it is younge it will not have all of its dark colors yet.

most, ifnot all of the jacks i see for sale are an extremely light color. as stated its eithr form their gravel, stress, or the juvi's dont have much colr at all anyway

my jacks looks almost yellow for the first month or two i had them, then their colors started showing as they put on a little size.

my opinion, if you COULD get a 55 tank soon, get the jack. even if its not a gold, its amazing to watch a fish with little-no coloration grow to something as beautiful as a jack. especially when you havent had many other fish before, as you just stated. really is an awesome transition, especially knowing your the one who tended to him :)

hang on now. It might still be a golden JD

My regular JD turns almost black sometimes, then before I know it she's a brownish slate grey color with jet black stripes. That fish just might be stressing over something or challenging another fish. With the way mine changes colors, who knows.

If you could posy a pic I bet someone would be able to tell you for sure.

I wouldn't give up just yet though

PS- My Black Gravel really makes the colors POP onm my fish. That'll help for sure if you go the 55 route

i would get a 55, but if my dad is ever going to help me build this 360 that i'm planning, i don't think i should get another tank just yet. maybe once we start building the 360, we could buy the little guy. hes in a discreat tank, on a bottom rack, and is not even labeled. he should be there for a while;)

cool fish!

looks like it might be a Gold Morph never seen one in person only online.
