Going to get this guy on thursday. Was wondering what to feed him. Someone pointed out to me he had HITH, which I just learned was hole in the head disease and is fairly common. I was wondering what to use to cure this, I read some where that a varied diet would help. I was also thinking of picking up Hole-N-Head Guard. Wondering what people's thoughts on this product are.

as long as you have aeration or filtration and the temp is right he should be fine in the rubbermaid for a while. Without those I would put some pep in your step.

A good diet should help turn him around. Some good foods are Hikari Cichlid Gold and Cichlid Gold+ which is what I use, blood worms, krill, shrimp, red worms (aka nightcralwers), and sometimes if you can get them to take thawed peas that works as well, a good quality sprinula flake will work well to. I am not sure on the med though as I have never needed to use and such meds. HTH.

Thanks for the advice.

Golden Jag? Are you referring to a Xanthic?

Looks Xanthic to me. It appears as though there are a few more out there than originally thought.

What is that supposed to mean, are they hard to find?

Well, up until just recently, there was only one that was known to be in the hobby. Now, there was a batch of fry sold recently. They are definitely uncommon, at least for now.
