If you were going to be conned, it would either be a jardini, a green - which both look totally different, or a banjar red. A banjar red is a dull fish without much colour, that looks nothing like the pic above. So you'll know if it's an RTG or not.

hey chaos, you seem to know your stuff with the asian aros, could you please give me a quick disscription on how a Xback should look, see my freind bought one,but I personally dont think it is true xback, the fish now is 6.5inches.Chaos32;514752; said:A banjar red actually looks great when they are young. It's when they get big that's the problem. Also there is the banjar gold and another called F2 banjar gold. Banjar golds actually have some golden shine on the rims of the scale & are known to exhibit this color even when adults.![]()

I will work on geting a pick for you,im in the middle of the usa, so to get one here it is very hard and expensive, and we never see them so,thats why I say you seem to know your stuff, they are very seldom seen here in the states, thank you for your help,I will work on getting a pick somtime this weekChaos32;549843; said:lol...thanks but I would say a good part of the users here are proficient with Asian aros. Realistically, at 6.5inches it would be difficult to say unless it is an exceptional specimen. We define xbacks here in the east as having full pearls, 6 level shine, full crossing where ever possible & tail coloration to a certain extent. However, having said that, there are very high quality highback RTGs that also exhibit pearls. Therefore it would be safe to say that to have a accurate id., one must wait for the fish to reach 12". Perhaps a photo would help.
