My 6 inch female and 7 inch male severum have laid eggs for the second time this month, just wanted some opinions on how it is looking and if this is about the right amount (200-250 eggs) for a pair of this size. :headbang2 :woot:

This is their second try scince i got them and the frist time they got eaten by the other fish.
this time they ate the eggs in their own tank, so next time maybe.

thats breeding for you, keep your eye on whats happening and you'll find most cichlids lay to the same rules.
anyway they are a credit to you that they are happily breeding. as its the third attempt id expect fry. try leaving the lights on till you get fry. no other fish will be able to eat the eggs. have you noticed them picking out white eggs? thats to keep them all safe the white ones are fungused dead eggs. and if you want to improve yeild add some type of antibacterial treatment (maybe melafix) to keep them healthier
oh and while im lecturing daily water changes of about 10% will make the fry grow at about twice the rate minimum and feed 3 times a day if possible
