Caught a couple golden shiners today out of a friends pond that's loaded with them. They are 7 inches long and the two smallest ones I caught. I couldn't believe the size of them all usually I catch them in lakes much smaller. Anyways, I was in a hurry so I threw them in my 55 which was way warmer than the pond an they adjusted fine and started eating right away. Anyone who likes natives and needs some dither fish I would suggest some of these.

+2 The golden shiner is really one of the more attractive cyprinids available for the pond or home aquarium, thanks for sharing :)

Great fish. I had some for a while in a koi pond I dug along with some bass and green sunfish. If you get at least 5 or so they will swim in schools, it looks pretty cool. My daughter caught one while trout fishing that was 12"! They are also great live bait for bass if its legal where you fish.

I had to house one temporarily in a tropical tank with some Black Skirt Tetras and it chased them mercilessly, so it went outside into my garden pond. It is the largest fish in there and a pig! I probably need to get a few more as it's probably not all that happy alone.
