my python water changer just sucked the eyeball out of my black moore goldfish’s head.....what do I do to ensure he doesn’t die?

Salt? Just prime?

I can see blood coming out and the other one is red...

Man dew or similar drink can stop bleeding, fish needs to be taken out of water first tho, keep your water super pristine to prevent any problems.
re you serious? Mt. Dew to stop bleeding?

It seems to have stopped bleeding for the moment, there’s a congealed blob of blood and connective tissue just floating in the eye socket right now....

I added aquarium salt 6 tbs to the 60g. I honk that only treats 30gs sonits half dosed...

He looked to be in shock at first but is swimming around fine now....

Not sure if I should pull out the connective tissue, leave it??? I’ve never had anything like this happen before

Leave it to heal itself, pulling could easily cause serious problems, and yes mtn dew does stop bleeding by shrinking the capillaries

Huh, that's a new use for Mt Dew.

Just leave it, keep up with your water changes, ideally you'd probably separate him in a hospital tank if you have one but not much else you can do.

How did it suck his eyeball out? I wouldn't have thought it would have that much suction.

I could move fish around and give him his own 10g tank, or move him to the 33g tank with a BN pleco....but I don’t mind doing large water changes on the 60g.

He was small enough to swim right up the python and his eye got stuck in the hole and the suction sucked it right out of the socket

Poor little guy.
I’ve had fish go up my hoses while doing water changes, always makes my heart sink.
I think you did the right thing. Just salt and watch closely. Keep up water changes and be ready if you start seeing any fungus or bacterial infections.

Yea I felt like the worst fish keeper ever at that very moment.

2/3 of my goldfish are now disabled :-(

I hope he lives through this.

He tried eating yesterday, I might have to switch to a sinking pellet so he can pick them off the bottom.

Question as I’m not very good at salt dosing

I’m planning to do a 50% water change which equals 30g...do I dose for the whole 60g or just the fresh 30g? Also taking into consideration I only half doses yesterday???
