I haven't kept goldfish since I was a kid, and I wouldn't mind setting my 37 gallon up with a few fantails and comets or shubukin. Say three or four fantails and two comets maybe. (I know this won't hold them for life.).

I know goldies are considered messy, so I was wondering what kind of filtration is recommended. I have an AC70, would I need to add something else as well? The tank currently has a clown knife, rainbows, bichirs and a flagtail and it seems to be enough filtration for them. These guys will move onto a bigger tank though so I'll have the 37 for goldfish.

just a hob is fine that all i have on my tank, and the 5 i have are doing fine.

the more filtration you have the less work you will have to do..

How much more and what kind of filtration do you recommend? An AC70 and a canister of somekind? Or an AC70 and an extra AC50 maybe?

My feeder tank gets pretty messy. I finally just got it from mini cycling and now instead of servicing 3 filters (I have one now an ac50) I change 10 gallons (its a 20 gallon) on it instead.. about 2 times a week and that is usually 6-12 comets medium sized.

Unless you have tons of extra cash go for the ac70 and maybe add the ac50 later if you feel its necessary.
