hi i have 1 common goldfish a fancy goldfish and 2 ghost koi in a 200 gallon pond for about 2 years.

anyway i was looking in my pond this morning and noticed one of the koi fallowing my goldfish and hitting it. the goldfish is also looking quit fat. they are both around 7 inches.

could this be breeding behavior or just playing:confused:

thanks

could be territorial dispute...200 gal. for 2 koi AND 2 goldfish...hmmm...are you sure? how big are they?

you should give koi ATLEAST 600-800 gal. alone. they get huge and produce a big bioload.

anyways.... ive never heard of goldfish crossing with koi, but thats not saying it hasnt been done...

I heard of a koi x goldfish befor. It makes butterfly koi (koi with long fins).

thats is incorrect

Butterfly Koi originated in the mid 20th century as the result of an effort to increase the hardiness of traditional koi. Japanese breeders interbred wild Indonesian Longfin river carp with traditional koi.

Here's a koi/goldfish hybrid for ya...

I have seen a few others as well. I remember one preserved specimen who had a barbel on one side and none on the other. Apparently they are a fairly common hybrid.
