lol, alright this is a bit of a strange question, so let me explain the story I just experienced first.
So, I took three of my three inch Goldfish, and put the into the 60-Gallon to help eat some of the extra food that was in the tank (Added a little too much, my bad) I woke up this morning expecting to see three dead Goldfish seems how almost everything comes out at night in the tank (Predators, ect.) NOTHING! Not even a scratch! So, I sat and I watched the tank for a bit and saw the Red Wolf fish go up to one of the Goldfish, and "Challenged" him, or showed a lot of aggression waiting for the Gold fish to back down (Fins flickering, puffed out throat, showing teeth) and the Goldfish did NOTHING! He was to busy eating some food. Of course it pissed off the Wolf fish, knowing that the Goldfish did not back down. They seem to not even know the signs of aggression from other fish. Not smart enough.
Now, I have been told or saw somewhere that Gold fish are one of the most intelligent fish, and seeming how he survived the night in the "Oddball" tank, maybe they are.
You decide! Are Goldfish stupid or smart?

You should have vacuumed the tank instead of using the fish to do the job for you. It doesn't hurt to take this an opportunity to keep your tank water clean.

As for your question about goldfish being smart or stupid, I am sorry to say this but your question does not make sense. Goldfish are not aggressive in general except for a few cases where they harass constantly newcomers upon being introduced and seemingly fighting their own reflections just like bettas. So why you expect it to react to the wolffish is beyond me. I keep goldfish myself and they are sociable by nature and swim around in groups.

If, by smart you mean responsive, then some are and some aren't. You goldfish doesn't speak the wolffish's language, that's all. The molly in my Angel tank is only now figuring out how the angels show aggression. For months he was oblivious to their threats.

If I dropped you into a random tribe in Africa and you didn't jump up and down three times when the Queen shook the rattle, they'd think you weren't very smart.

What makes you think your fish are racist? This is part of their nature to prey fish that fit their mouths.
