I have a goldfish in a 29g-nitrates were 0, ph was about 6.4, but my goldfish is showing some signs of what I think is swimbladder disease. Sometime she has trouble balancing herself and starts to flip over, but for the most part she is doing well, can swim and is eating. I have fed green beans and corn-should I give it a epsom salt bath in a separate tank? Should I try wide spectrum antibacterial medicine? Thanks, I want to treat this before it gets worse.

green peas worked intermittently for me. i've found it to be a difficult ailment to correct, and seems to be linked to individual fishes vs. disease, as long as water parameters are correct.

Sorry but feeding corn contributes to floaty issues. Any gassy food especially flakes, floating pellets and other foods that comprise mostly of starch will cause the fish to float. What else do you feed the fish?

In some cases, high nitrate also contribute to the issue.

Your pH is also very low for goldfish. Acidic water is known to cause skin issues among goldfish. I'd suggest checking the hardness levels and adjust with crushed corals as necessary.

Okay, I will do that, maybe my local water has low hardness. My water tends to go down on pH and a lot of water changes don't help, even though the water itself is very very basic.

I've been feeding it flakes primarily, but I have completely stopped that since I noticed the floating problem. I also gave it green beans and bloodworms.

No beans. I should have mentioned this before but overlooked it. Bloodworms are fine but homemade gel foods comprising mostly of veggies also help. Mazuri gel food also is a nice alternative. You can buy from Goldfish Utopia online owned by Ed.

And add crushed corals.

Okay will do, thank you for your help. Also, should I try an epsom salt bath? I have not seen any poop and I think the goldfish might be constipated.

Fast for 2 days at least first before trying epsom salt.
