goldnugget pleco

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you add chemicals to make your pH highter for the Africans? Or do you just use your tap water which happens to be hard? If you just use tap then a Gold Nugget would adjust to it. Although they are one of the hardest Plecs to keep alive and acclimate.

By African chiclids, do you mean Lake Malawi, Tanganyika or Victoria, or West African Congo region? If the latter, should be ok (as they prefer slightly acidic water, though some species are really aggressive, especially when they're breeding). If the former, I would not recommend it, but I have never had experience with Lake M/T/V chiclids with plecs.

I wouldnt.. pleco need low ph... amazon water isn't as hard as african lakes... i'd stay away from it...

I wouldnt recommend ajusting them to a high ph environment but I do have mine in water around a ph of 8. That is just what my local water is like and it is has been doing fine now for about a year now.
