1. mixing them with polypterus?

2. i feed my tank FLOATING hikari cichlid gold n sinking tetra color bits, is this okay? do i have to feed them at night with the lights off?

3. in terms of activity, r they as active as a sailfin pleco? or just hide all day until night?

4. is pH a big deal?

5. will they get alone with clown loaches?

6. in terms of terroritory, will they get really aggressive to other fish near their space?

7. anything else I should know?

I'll answer all your questions about Goldie since i was the one who recommended you this pleco over others..

  • You can mix pleco with Bichirs.. just remember that they are going to occupy the same region of space.. which is the bottom of the tank.. So you have to be careful on your tankmates..
  • You need to be feeding (Sinking pellet or sinking algae wafers) But I would actually feed market shrimp and cucumber/zucchini Its cheaper and much more healthier than pellets… Feed is mostly at night… or lights off.. although by day.. they will feed if hungry..

  • They are more active than sailfin.. but it takes awhile for them to get accumulated and get used to the tank environment… Water must be warm.. do not go lower than 78 degrees.. they need a warm environment…

  • pH for ANY fish is important.. That’s a golden rule.. regular water change is important to promote a healthy environment..

  • They will leave clown loaches alone.. I keep mine with 3 giant 5”

  • They are territorial.. but that’s most plecos… They each have to have their own space… so make sure it has a hiding place.. plecocaves.com is a great site to purchase large caves..

  • Goldie pleco are active but take time to accumulate once in a new tank.. Also.. they are more friendly than other meat eating pleco species.. YES they are meat eaters.. so a regular diet of market shrimp and veggies is important..

I recommend feeding a cucumber/zucchini once a week depending on the size of the Goldie.. if u find a smaller one.. then You don’t need to feed as much..

I've also attach video on what other people feed theirs and get an idea of what you need to do...

Best of luck on finding one of the best looking plecos out there.... I highly recommend this over other pleco if you're experience enough and want to have something stunning rather than a pleco that only cleans the tank..

PS: where are u located in the US? Depending on your location.. finding an L-14 might be difficult... and not to mention.. pricy...
But can be accomplished..

pm me if u got questions..

btw: L-14 will fight for food.. especially with a tankmate like this.. L-114

This picture also gives you an idea on what setup would be best for Goldie pleco.... (not my tank)

~ If anyone can tell me the owner of this tank.. or know where it is.. i love to talk to this guy.. i found it accidentally in my search..

Yes Zero is right on everything. He knows what he is talking about. I agree with everything except I prefer NLS pellet with garlic instead of the shrimp. Zucchini and cucumber is fine. I have an L-114 just like the one in the video. I had to take my L-14 out because the L-114 would have killed him and both were 8 inches at the time. L-114'S do not play nice with other plecos IME. Once the L-14 settles in he will be one of your favorite fish and they are the most beutiful imo. Enjoy!
