Golfish seems Lonely

So, my little Black Moor Goldfish, not anything near full grown, tiny little baby. Anyway, about 3 weeks ago his buddy, another black moor died. I want to get him another buddy, but I don't know what type of fish he should be paired with. He lives in a 25 gallon, I am trying to convince my family we need a pond
Anyway, I don't want another Black Moor I want something more colorful and fun to be with him in his tank. Since all his tank accessories are kind of dull the tank looks gloomy.
I want a little buddy for him too, he seems lonely, I don't know if Goldfish get lonely but it seems like he is.
He use to swim right up alongside the other Black Moor in the tank, I heard that Goldfish are the type of fish that like companions but is that true. What type of fish should I get to live with him?

most people will tell you another goldfish, and while its a great idea, its not set in stone. i recently kept a pair of giant danios in an unheated tank with my goldfish for over 2 years, and they were seemingly happy, heathy and very colorful

if you add a heater to the tank, which some say is better for the "fancy" goldfish anyway, you could pretty much add any peaceful fish that you want. ideally, another slow moving fish like your goldie. however, as long as the new fish wont harass him, you could get away with whatever you may want.

some people may argue against keeping different species with goldfish, but ive done it time and time again, and ive kept goldfish since i was a kid.

How about a nice silver aro to eat your goldfish....lol jk anyway I would think Bala Sharks, silverdollars, tinfoil barbs,tiger barbs, etc would work..

in the case of a 25g tank, get a pair of weather/dojo loaches
