Personally I'm not sure I've never kept a ray, I just have heard some stories, this post may be better in the ray section simply because the gatf wouldn't be the one causing the issue more than likely, it'd be the ray. A member who's a little active over in the catfish forum had one eat his tig, despite the pectorals, the size difference in not sure of but he seems to think rays can take in a large meal. I'll tag him once I get his name see what he thinks

Edit: so I see he replied to your thread over there about the gulper and ray lol J Just Toby

My buddy’s 18” jardini was mauled to death by his 23” female motoro ray. If I were to keep a Goliath and a ray together I’d either get a teacup ray or wait till the Goliath is 24”+ before I get a ray. Imo. greenerinks greenerinks has kept rays with his monster Goliath in the past.

From a few people I've spoken to, you have to make sure that the ATF/ any other fish in there is strong enough that it would get pinned by the ray. I also think the only time you'll have to worry is at night when the ATF sleeps on the bottom of the tank where the ray can get a chance to pin it

I have a five inch Goliath with a seven inch bd hybrid ray and it is working fine. I keep everyone well fed. Since my tank is 30inch deep and I have the current set up at the surface and middle of the tank. The tiger fish sleeps between the top and middle current. The Ray has show no interest at all in the tiger fish and the tigerfish does not really get spooked when the ray rides the current at times. It is true there could be a risk but in my experience I have not had a problem.

I think the 30cm gatf and 35cm stingray just barely passes the minimum. I had a 55+cm gatf with 35cm stingrays and it was actually tilted the other way.. my gatf would take bites out of the stingrays disc when they are flying around or too close by or even during a dash grab for food. 30cm gatf won't do much damage at all to the stingray and is fast enough to run away but depends on size of tank too.
