However, at that size they are very difficult to tell the exact species. Genus is certainly Hydrocynus.

that is what they call goliath, and i would call it the same, just blame me for any discrepency, its not even my fish, i've seen enough, and it has striking resemblence to the adult goliath, whereas all the other "stripped" ones we get, resemble the "other" ones, notice how i refrain from using specie names. so i would call this stripeless tiger, goliath, if you can, find me one. they sell for $600.00 in japan, the stripped ones, $80.00 usd.

Looks the same as the picture they supplied on a german aquaria website.
Jaw profile and headshape also match nicely w adult pics of Goliaths.
