Gonna build a wet dry

And theres tons of questions . Ok a lil info , I have a forty breeder collecting dust so I've decided to make a wet dry , but i have never attempted to do this . I have a handle on how to build it already and have the parts but I have concerns about the pump , tubing size and over flow . My tank is a 180 gallon that can be considered overstocked lol , It is drilled and has bulkheads that are capped at the moment. Instead of overflow boxes can I just put a 90 degree elbow with an inlet screen on both bulkheads and build a spraybar / powerhead type outlet? second I want to pump somewhere around 1200 gph , what size pump should I use , brand and gph ... I looked at the sticky but its way too confusing , Im a bit mathematicly challenged .
