Ok this guy is like 3-4 years old now and has always been a pig!! Recently he stopped eating all together and for about a week or so now he has been breathing extremely hard and has his head at the top of the water, almost trying to stay near the air stones. Happened a couple months back but went away and was still eating a bit. Now its been like 3 weeks of no eating and this breathing. Problem is I have no hospital tank or one I could set up. im guessing its a gill fluke or something but no other fish, St, pbass, tigrinus, etc are having any problems. I dont want to treat the whole tank for a parasite and I cant load up some food with a med cause he wont eat it. Levels are all good on the tank temp at 78 and ph around 7.5. Its gonna break my heart if he doesnt make it

No hospital tank = Treating the whole tank

Ever think of increasing the temp a bit during your treatment? G'luck!

I really dont wanna treat the whole tank but I guess I really have no choice. What should I use that is safe for the rest of the fish? There are polys, rays, pbass, tigrinus, etc in the tank. i even risked throwing a few live rosies in to see if it was the food I was using, which he always ate mind you, and paid no attention to it

stressed color and just sitting around the top of the tank now for over 2 weeks and breathing extremely heavy

treat with what though?

im guessing its a gill fluke or something

Whats makes you think this? Symptoms?

Your rays will be the ones to watch out for during treatment.....

just because there is very heavy breathing and i know its not due to lack in O2 so figure its something in the gills? Any suggestions what I can add to the tank?

more filtration?
