So i bought 5 festaes to get a pair but im not into the whole pair thing anymore so im gonna wait till i get a female and sell off the others. Along with the female RT i will have a trimac, cuban, grammodes, and lyonsi. I understand these 5 fish in a 150 will be impossible but what do you think will work best. My favorite fish right now in order are

trimac
grammodes
cuban
festae
lyonis

Just to see if i want to replace any of these fish i have a istlanum coming from rapps on tuesday. If nothing works i have tanks for all the fish

id say the grammode may be the biggest problem as they can be terrors and the trimac cause itll grow the largest if you get a male but i really think your stock isnt impossible and i like it. good luck

thanks fishman09 i wasnt expecting a + first reply, ill keep it updated

The lyonsi is a bit of an oddball. Lower on the aggression scale than the rest of the fish. I think the islatum will be a good substitute. The trimac will defiantly stir things up as I believe he will get the biggest and become the most aggressive. All I can say is be ready to act fast if there is a problem. It only takes one night for fish to snap and decide they do not want tankmates.

currently in the tank all the fish are about 2-3 inches and the line of aggression is cuban chases the festaes - trimac chases cuban - and grammodes chases the trimac

im trying a similar tank. right now have lyonsi, synispilum, red devil, hogaboomorum, and la ceiba friedrichsthalli in my 125. its all about adjustment and finding the right balance of power. i think its always best if the biggest fish in the tank is chill but can still beat everyone if challenged then it sets the mood for everyone to be chill.

This will most likely not work, but as long as u have a back up plan like you said you do I don't se a problem woth gvin it a try. Keep us posted........and
PICS!!!

I might be the only guy who thinks abandoning this idea is the way to go! LOL... I think your going to have a war break out, personally, and it won't be long before you are again having to rehome fish, assuming you can do so before any deaths.

To be honest, I think your trimac and grammodes are the two biggest problems here. I don't know enough about cubans to say. When I had my male festae, things would get pretty testy between him and my lyonsi. The lyonsi male held his ground pretty good, but the lyonsi female was no match... I'm sure she's happy he's gone. From what I have seen, female festae seem to be a little less um... "angry"... lol... than males. So... there you go. My two cents, for what its worth. Good luck, man!

No, youre not. Im just tired of saying it over and over again , just like 99% of the other members here. Its why SO many posts get so few responses as of late. No one wants to help people that dont heed the advice they are given when they previously asked questions.

It reminds me of a saying...

There is no more miserable human being than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision.

and dont take any of this wrong please. I dont mean any disrespect to the OP or anyone else...its just that its REAL easy to see what will and wont work by browsing the forum for an hour or so and youll learn why it did or didnt as well which will save you all the pain/ guesswork etc in your setup.

No, its not flawless info, but no ones re-inventing the wheel around here. If you can think about it, its been done and probably documented to some degree either here or on one of the other forums.

I only wish we had the web and forums 30+ yrs ago when I was a kid trying to keep oscars & JDs in a 29g.
