So i separated my GTs into a 20gL tank 3 days ago to see what i could do about their stringy poo, well iv been fasting them since sunday night to get everything out of their system (just to see for sure whether it was parasites or not since i had already been treating their food for awhile) and apparently they didnt mind because yesterday they laid eggs!! they were a great pair and swam around everywhere together and are only 3.5-4in, but after he fertilized the eggs apparently she wanted him GONE! last night and this morning she had him staying on the other side of the tank away from the eggs, i didnt think anything of it though because she was just keeping him on the side but wasnt outright attacking him, but apparently she was attacking him more than i saw because when i got home from bio lab today i didnt see him in the tank and found him half dried out in between the dresser the tank is on and the wall:cry::cry: SUCKS he was like my fav fish he jumped out where the opening for the filter is, he was gorgeous for being only 3.5in and would have only gotten better as he matured, so i guess having a GT pair in my big tank is not going to happen, but good news is the eggs are still there and she is being an excellent first time mommy so hopefully she doesnt eat them and maybe ill get a nice male out of my late fishie's sons...

here is a pic of my guy n his killer girlfriend from like a month ago (he was kind of camera shy and my water was really dark from the wood)

wow that sucks but you will get a ton of fry to watch swim around.

thanks guys yeah it SUCKS when a fish goes like that, but yeah hopefully a lot of the fry survive since they are so small the batch wasnt that big but looks like its still a good 75eggs, and pretty much none of them have fungused over so i guess thats a good sign...

aww sorry for your loss GL with the fry.

thanks yeah and that pic really doesnt do him justice he had so much red in him and was nice and iridescent, he had just started growing in his trailers too the poor thing, and yeah hopefully she will be successful she seems to be a great mommy so far (aside from killing their daddy) she is constantly tending to the eggs and fanning them with her fins (pretty good for a first timer)

Sorry for your loss sarah, but I suppose the fry will be a nice silver lineing.
