I've been looking at stingrays for quite a while now. Last year I almost brought home 2 "teacup" stingrays. But when it came down to it i decided not to. I wanted to put a few stingrays into a 55 gallon. are there any rays that would even last in a 55 for a while? if someone can point me in the right direction with some info or a link/thread i'd greatly appreciate it :)

Well any teacup can go into a 55 but its not gunna live very long or grow big. The minimum required to keep a ray is 125 gal and that's only for smaller rays like retic or hystrix. Witch Max at 14"+ . A ray should have a tank with a depth twice the size of its disk. So for an adult retic or hystrix the minimum would have to be a 72"x30" footprint. Larger species require much larger tanks. I hope this helps and please don't not stick a ray in a 55. Its cruel and bad fish keeping.

if you are looking at getting into a stingray you cannot start with a 55 gallon tank. They require a much larger tank. You need something that is 18" front to back just to start but would soon need a tank that is at least min 24" front to back. if you want to keep rays best is to buy a 24" tank front to back and be good for a while. Please read all sticky information at the top of the stingray area. Also stick to males which stay a touch smaller.
