:nilly: I want a good road bike for under 1k!

I found a nice cervelo for 600 a few months ago. But I didn't have the money

Suggestions?

try not to get training wheels. if you use them its gonna be difficult to use without them. you rely on them way to much. its bad

What kind of bikes are we talking about? Are you looking to commute, exercise, race? Knowing that and i can offer better advice. Since you mention cervelo i assume a road bike? The big brands like specialized, trek, and giant all have good offerings for good value. always check craigslist and ebay.

Also check http://bikesdirect.com/products/road_bikes.htm
They are online only motobecanes, but are seriously good deals. Some of the frames may be lacking in some cases, but the cost for some of the part specs is untouchable. For $1k you can get carbon frame with 105 spec.

Haha ok beex. Thanks

Yes krzr im talking about road bikes for racing.

Sorry I didn't specify.

Thanks for the link!
Im taking a look right now

I agree--bikesdirect.com have some really good deals--bought a bike from them last month. To show you the deals you can get--we got one of the top Motobecanes, the Immortal Team for 2799. It's a carbon fiber bike with Shimano 7900 Group (same thing that's on the Trek Madone 6.9). Just went to another site--the Dura Ace 7900 group alone is $2705. So with Bikesdirect, you're getting the carbon fiber frame, wheels, tires and everything else for free! It's a fantastic deal!

I realize that you want to pay less then we did, but I think if you do your research and know the minimum components you have to have, you'll find bikedirect hard to beat (they essentially eliminate the middle man (the retailer).

I'd suggest you save up a couple hundred dollars more and you can get a really light bike with good components.

Here's our "2 finger test" (had to crop out my husband, as he doesn't know I'm posting this pic)
