I know that the bigger one is male because of the coloring. Is the smaller one female? Could I breed them or does the female have to be bigger?

I have no idea. I would assume that they are the right size since the male is usually bigger. I think you should just do a trial and error experiment. See if it doesn't work or maybe it will.

Well they look like a pair, but they're not 'greens'. I believe they're Redbreasted sunfish (Lepomis auritus). Quoting from an internet source:
"Males have yellow, orange or red breast, olive upper sides, blending into blue-tinged bronze on the lower sides and blue streaks on the cheek. Females are less colorful; their breasts are yellowish or pale red. The most distinguishing characteristic of this species is a long, narrow (no wider than the eye) extension of the gill cover. These flaps, which may reach a length of one inch or more, are entirely black". BTW, they get pretty large (males ~12", females smaller). Good luck with them.

Well I knew from the start they were some kind of sunfish. I have them in a 75 gal. Breeder and they stick together like pb&j :)

I meant PB&J. My phone is retarded haha
