I'm in the market for another pleco, but want a good worker for the tank. I don't know of any good cleaning fancy plecos, so any info on which ones might be. I'm pretty sure the commons are good cleaners, but want to get something a little nicer. I read somewhere on here that bristlenose's are pretty good... is that the fanciest I'll get as far as a cleaner?

if your looking for cleaning, id stay away from plecos haha. But bristlenoses seem to be good, and by good i mean move around more.

My L200 does a good job at cleaning my tank.... there are probably better out there but my L200 sure is better than my L18

Ya the bushynose does a great job as does a rubberlip. And they are pretty active plecos. My brushy's and rubber lips are allways out and about. I never see them hidden in caves, like some of my other plecos.

That's because he has a higher rank! 200 is greater than 18 right? :D :screwy::screwy::screwy:

Well I guess you could get an L200, but plecos are dirty. They're great to look at, but asking them to clean is like asking your dog to clean up the yard after it poops in it. You love 'em, but they don't exactly help with the chores. :)

I never knew plecos were messy... what they crap alot or something? I clean the tank once a week, so I figure it shouldn't be a problem. I'll check out the L-200 and L-018 amd see how they look. Anyone else have any suggestions? My tiger is hardly ever out.

If plecos aren't good for cleaning then what is? I don't want an algae eater only because I always hear problems with them eating the slime coat off of fish.

Not all plecos. Some will even argue that they only suck slime coats when not fed properly. Not saying that I believe that is true. I can say out of all of them I have owned I have never had a problem with them sucking slime coats.
