I heard that common pleco can be place in cold water and they should be fine.

I cant think of any other fish, other than koi and goldfish.

rock bass is so dull in color, and they dont swim much, pretty much like a stone fish.. sitting in a corner 24/7, the 50G is gonna be a waste.

Would this work? 3 Koi + 2 rock bass + 1 pleco in a 120G tank? :D 48 x 24 x 24

Any ideas? Still like 2 more weeks left before I get my paycheck ;)

Koi can get WAY too big for a 120g, just by size alone. Then there's the waste to factor in, so I definately wouldn't suggest them.

If you want a colorful fish I would stick with natives and find some longear sunfish. I can also guarantee that they are compatable since I keep several longear with my 4 shadow bass (basically a type of rock bass) in my 125g native tank.
Milder tempered south american cichlids also do well with rock bass, though it would have to be hardy ones since you don't want to keep the rock bass in too high a temperature. (75F would still work for your rock bass and a lot of cichlids)

why not other large cichlids, i know it takes a while for them to grow out so they cant be eatn' but I had a set with about 6 large cichlids( 3peacocks) that were 7-8" and the PBass was at 16"-they worked out well.

I no longer have the set up so a long term may not work but was really cool when it was.

What kind of Bass? Rock Bass?

He's talking R(ock)bass, not P(eacock)bass

Or are you saying you kept rockbass with Pbass? Your post is slightly confusing.
