good de-nitrate plants for hard water

jsut wodndering how java fern and jungle val are for eating nitrates? or of you guys have any opinions of other palnts that may work well? i have soem trouble with plants, cuz i have hard water, pH is about 8. and KH is like 10 degrees. iv treid some floating palnts that ahve worked too acualy. any sugestions would be great thanks guys.
 
First off, i am a plant noob so don't take me too seriously, just want to give my 2 cents.

From what i understand plants with more color etc. require more energy to photosynthesis, or whatever it's called in english.

So basically if you have alot of light to support a high energy plant, i think it will also be absorbing more nutrients from the water, such as nitrates.

That's just my 2 cents though, but hopefully an expert can chime in
