i went to my lfs and was looking around when i saw this guy. i have seen them on here before but cant remember what it was or how much they go for. they only had on siting in the back and there was no price for him on the glass. he was fat and very colorful bc he was in a tank with a ton of neon tetras so ithink had alot of food. well with all this i figured they dont know what it is. so i asked, whats this. the guy comes over and you will never guess what he said. ya i dont know but by looks of it it looks like a trout. i looked at him and said, what are you smoking. do the trout where u are from have red and yellow fin, not to mention its body shape and fins dont look atything like a trout. so i said how much. so he gave it to me for a dollar. the pic is him right when i put him in so he is a little dark and the bright colors are as bright as they are. so what is he, how big does he get, whats he eat.

I know he is a gudgeon of somesort but which one I don't know. He should not get enormous (actually probably a she, as the females I believe tend to be more colorful with the gudgeons) and he would love to eat live foods but will readily take prepared foods as well...

That's an Eleotrid called the Purple-Spotted Gudgeon - Mogurnda adspersa. Grows to about 6". Will feed on frozen shrimp, small fish, earthworms/bloodworms, and can be trained onto pellets and flake.

Sweet buy and a very cool fish. don't trust them with fish very much smaller than they are.
They are sometimes sold as jade sleeper gobies along with at least one other species. "Thatpetplace" has them at 3" for about $7 US but the few times I see them locally they are usually around $12 US. They are easy keepers and quite hardy and mainly peaceful with things to big to eat. A freind had on that loved crayfish and would shake apart one that was longer than it was so you might bear that in mind. It was actually pretty cool to watch.

I love mine even though he has a face only a mother.....I mean Father could love.

He is easy as he will eat any food offered and he dosen't seem interested in eating his tankmates.

If yours is a female we could put them together!

its a date :hearts:

Repair: Don't put them together so fast. Your goby is Dormitator maculatus. It's another Eleotrid but, grows to over a foot. Cool goby. Here's a shot of my breeding pair:
