Hello, I have a 180 gallon tank with a shortbody blue carpentis cichlid about 4 inches and 4 x yellow blood parrots about 2.5 -3 inches and a few blue Botia loaches. I’ve been noticing as they mature there becoming abit more skittish and hiding more than when they were young and more active, i used to have a tinfoil barb in there that used to draw them about abit more but he’s gone now, I wanna introduce some dither fish to maybe draw them out abit more , any suggestions?

I think you have a lot of options in a 180. BA tetras, roseline sharks, Colombian tetras, giant danios, large rosy barbs could probably work out well. With the smaller fish I would go with large schools. You might have a few get eaten, but it should work out overall.

Yeah that’s the debate if I should go with something large or a pack of something small, for now it’s between giant danios or a group of Colombian tetras

Can’t go wrong with Buenos Aires tetras - Colombians would work well as well.
Danios are thinner so a large enough cichlid might be able to make a meal of them (though unlikely). My dempsey did fine with one (last of its school until it died of old age), though I’ve heard stories about gt eating them. All are similar size range to carpintus.
