Recently set up 4' 75G CA tank w 2 salvinis and 2 Firemouths with sand substrate, a lot of cobblestones and some small pieces of driftwood. The fish primarily hide by the rocks. I knew the salvinis would do that but the FM's are
also primarily hanging in the rocks and I was hoping to get some more open swimming around in the tank.

Was thinking about adding a Jack Dempsey to the tank. Would that encourage more open swimming? Would the tank be overstocked?

Was also thinking about adding a school of rosey barbs to the tank to add color and encourage open swimming. Would these work with this setup?
What about black skirt tetras?

silver dollars not red hooks are one of my fav. dithers, i just dont have any. a school of them should do well in your tank and encourage free swimming.

big school of odessa barbs

Silver Dollars are great!
Maintenance free.
Get at least four.

the sals might pick off the dithers but that is why you pick fast schooling dithers it will cut down on losses, the whole point to dithers is for them to be expendable.

Incorrect. The whole point of dithers is to draw out shy cichlids. They are meant to be a perminate addition to the aquarium just as the cichlids are. Feeders are meant to be expendable. HUGE differance.
