putting together a home made sump that will filter a 150g tank. Just want to know what are some good energy efficient submersible water pumps that I can purchase for my sump.

I've heard good reviews about Mag-drive pumps. I have a quiet one pump though, because it came with the tank. It works fine, although it is a bit loud (just a steady hum, though)

mag drives, they all say ultra-quiet and energy efficient buthere all a bunch of bullcrap...

I tooooootally agree. I've had lots of Mags over the years, all of which eventually got loud, locked up, or just entirely failed. Now I just use them to pump water out of tanks.

For me, it's Eheim all the way for my internal pump needs. They are silent and much more energy efficient than most other internals. They can be run externally too if need be.

I really like Sequence pumps for external needs.

I think the eheim pumps are quite energy efficient for their output. The 1262 moves
898 gph with a max head of 11.8 feet and uses 80 watts of power.

i picked up a pond pump from homedepot and siliconed a plastic bracket with some suction cup feet to it... its no louder than the sound of running water that fills my livingroom
