Went on a local shop tour the other day and my wife (who has been adamant that we don't need a plywood/pond build in the garage) begged me to buy this little chap. He was marked up as a bullhead catfish for £5. The chap in the store was keen to tell me that he was a Tanganyikan syno and needed hard water. There was a big mbuna in the tank who was battering him hence the half tail missing. The Mrs was determined to save him sooooo... He's currently in my 90, chilling with the rainbow snakehead. I've only just showed my wife an adult granulosa but she's too in love with him now. We're clearing the garage this week to add a tank big enough for him. Win/win!!!

Great move! Half the tail? The whole caudal fin is missing, only the caudal peduncle left. Poor thing.

Really do have to question some folks who sell fish. " marked up as a bullhead catfish at £5" and " tanganyikan syno", and that's from guys in a shop, that are supposed to know what they are doing.
nice pick up though, so their ignorance on this occasion is to your benefit, especially as you get a bigger tank!

I manage a shop that I've been at for 15 years and you have to absolutely love and breathe it. I have areas of weakness but I wouldn't dream of getting a fish in without making sure that I knew what I was taking on. Their loss is my gain I suppose but it still drives me mad lol.
