What would be some good fish for a 60gal hex? Can i put a silver arowana in it? Kidding. I am worried about lateral swimming space. I thought about discus, but not sure. Any other ideas? If I did discus would I need RO water to keep them happy? Tap water is med hard here. Probably rather do something else anyway.

For some reason I can't get into angelfish. I thought of that too-they would def work well in the tank. I am thinking African cichlids maybe

In a 60 you could do a nice African community of mbuna or other smaller ones or a species tank i've always liked Pundamilia nyererei.

My best available LFS told me that Africans (and most other cichlids other than discus and angels) need more lateral swimming space. I was also thinking sorta big and colorful SA/CA cichlids. I just want to figure out how limiting the hex shape is. Don't want miserable fish.

Didn't know what those were so I googled- beautiful. Are those sold as Peacocks sometimes?

If I were you I'd buy a nice metal halide light. One of the big dome style lights and suspend it above the tank. Then I'd aquascape the sh*t out of it with driftwood and a ton of tall growing plants like different varietys of swords. Top it all off with a couple of different species of shrimp like red cherries or crystal reds and. A bunch of cardinal tetras, zebra danios, and lemon tetras maybe some honey dew dwarf gouramis.

Drop dead gorgeous.

But hey that's just me :)
