I was just wondering what books are really good for freashwater references i am going to get the Encyclopedia of Aquarium and Pondfish by David Alderton
It seems very complete with a index of sceintific and common names and everthing has a picture and the general info on it it is also a hardcover book

so what i was wondering is who else has a good book on the topic of freashwater fish that is like an encyclopedia of fish types or ones what are just good for the fish you have

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/07...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=320448901&pf_rd_i=507846

this is a link to the book on amazon

i have the Encyclopedia of Aquarium and Pond Fish. excellent book, although some sizes of the fish are off (black pacu getting only 16 inches). good read. i have read it all, and i still go to it for random information. a nice addition to any fish keeper's library. i also have some book about breeding freshwater fish, but i can't remember the title of it

i have a couple of other books like the guide to owning tropical fish (cheep from LFS), tropical freashwater aquarium fish from AtoZ (only has more popular fish), and the guid to owning pirahna (another cheep LFS pickup) but they pale in comparison to the Encyclopedia of Aquarium and Pondfish

I would recommend that you find Axelrods Atlas of Aquarium Fishes.I have had mine for years and it covers just about any aquarium fish that exists, mine is pretty beat up so I will soon get a newer edition. The book is as thick as a yellow pages phonebook.

Aquariology tetra press is a great book if you have a strong science background
Any books by Ad koenigs are awesome
I have a very old version of exotic aquarium fishes W.T. Innes always a great book
