I thought I would start a Good Husbandry thread. I will start it off with 5 things I think makes a good parent!

-Ragular Water changes
-Regular Water Testing
-A quality environment for your type of Tank, FOWLR, SPS, Softies, etc...
-Using a Turkey Baster to blow Detritus of your Live Rock once or twice a week.
-Regular Skimmer Maintance IE cleaning your becket and skimmer neck.

generous spacing for large and aggro species
food as close to natural as can get -or- the most healthful prepared foods for that type of fish.
companionship on conspecifics (where applicable)

a lil TLC!

spend at least 15-20 minutes a day just watching your fish, a lot of problems can be picked up early by just watching your fish closely

make sure you change your lights before the color temp shifts, to help prevent algae problems

research everything before you buy, do not buy a fish that will outgrow your current setup, upgrading later might not always be an option

Great additions everyone lets keep adding!

actively try to not misstreat fish in small ways, but daily. like turning all of the lights on at once.

not letting your tank get to the limit of keeping your fish alive before you maintain the tank.

trying to enrich the quality of live and not just health.
(you can pretty easily keep a snowflake healthy in a 20L, but will it be happy?)

the occasional treat.

subdued lighting for those who'd appreciate it.

patience.

-Regular cleaning of your sump or Refugium. Detritus can settle in these ares and needs to be removed.
-Enough Live rock to support bio load
-Researching every animal, invert, etc before purchasing
-No impluse buying unles your system can support it right then not my next tank.
