I am going to be going home from school for Thanksgiving break. I'm leaving on Wednesday night and won't be back until Sunday afternoon, so in all I'll be gone about 4 days. I have 4 x 2"-3" rbps and I'm concerned that this is too long to leave them. I'm planning on doing heavy water changes and feedings for the next few days and will lower the temp while I'm gone. My roommate will probably be around at some point to feed them but it's no guarantee that he'll be here.

Is there anything that I should or shouldn't do so that my fish are safe when I get back?

What tank size?

Yea you got a right idea...lower down the temp, feed them good and lots of water change. They should be find in there for 4 days. no need to worry.

but once you're back feed them ASAP and water change an hours or so after feeding.

They are in a 30 right now but are going into a 75 as soon as I find one for a decent price.

I would add more hiding space such as plants or wood.

I've got a pretty large piece of drift wood and there are some plants... Over the past week I've noticed that they have just started to develop their own territories. It's been a lot of fun to watch.

At that size I would divide the tank. They will be fine not eating for that long...I would worry about them cannibalizing each other though.

well, i just got back and everybody was fine. the water was a little messy so i did a good size water change and plan to do the same tomorrow. none of the fish even have fins nipped. i think the lower temp and heavy feeding before hand really did the trick. thanks for the advise.
