good idea?

my friend got his first tank a few weeks ago (20 gals.). he made it sw but the fish died. i dont know why he got sw but w/e. any ways he is going to make it fw and i want him to get:

1 figure 8 puffer
1 african butterfly fish
4-5 cory cats

would this work? i dont want him to get the usual begginer fish.

20 gal is a little small for the butterfly fish. They should be kept as a small school, I had a pair in an 80 gal and now have 5 in a 220 gal. They are not social but like company. They don't seem too active, but they still need room to swin. How about hatchet fish? A school of them would look awesome! And not everyone has them, either. The tank should be well-cycled, though.
