Good med for parasites?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First off put carbon back in your filters and get the meds out of the water, they are useless. Second, turn the temp up to 84-86 degrees and it should clear up in a few days. Try and do a light gravel vac every other day just to pick up any encycsted ich on the substrate before it can hatch. Leave the heat up for a week or two after signs of it disapear just incase. :)

never use ich meds imo aquarium salt is your first swing.... after that i would go with melafix but i havent had any luck with mela yet

How often do your fish flash? Have you seen any other symptoms? Flashing can indicate many things, not just ich. Don't treat until you know the exact cause. Copper sulfate is a very dangerous med to keep around. They not only kill invertebrates but also harm fish and plants in the long run. Treating with copper is best done in a spare tub or tank.

I use Clout for parasites. It's VERY strong and VERY effective. You can get it at Drsfosterandsmith.com

clout is very good IMO for parasites too, but it is pretty harsh, I wouldn't use it without knowing what sort of problem im treating
