Good Medium Sized Cichlid Wet Pets

Solo convict or acara. Most of the other wet pet cichlids will outgrow that tank.

That size tank, I'd consider going with something like a pair of apistogrammas. They're small cichlids, but nice and colorful.
One of my favorite personable fish that may work in that size of a tank is a hairy puffer. They are lazy fish, you wont look over and see them swimming around a lot but when you are in front of the tank they tend to be very interactive and are very food centric fish. A bit expensive but to me one of the most interesting fish out there.

No mbuna should be with others in a 30 gallons. My auratus and red zebra ran a 36 and made life hell for the rest, with the auratus eventually looking the zebra.
Puffers and labyrinth fish come to mind first.
Solo peacock eel with dithers as well.
dude. Do mangainos or something that look decent at least. Auratus are too much of a pain in the A. If they were girls they’d need to be dimes….
Cutteri male or a convict male. Sajica male. Apistogramma aren’t what I would call personable. Shy maybe. Personable not really.
Honestly acara have never really given the wet pet vibe to me. Fun to watch Not so much to interact with you could say.
